Container & Truck Load Fill Calculator

ISO 668 internal dimensions & typical payloads · EU 96/53/EC road weight limits · orthogonal stacking, best of six orientations

Enter one carton or pallet and see how many fit in each standard container and in a EU curtainsider — counted by volume and by payload, with the limit that actually binds named for each.

How the count is reached

Boxes stack in full layers, and on each floor two orientations are allowed — one zone laid lengthwise, the remainder turned 90° — which is how a container is actually loaded. Every count is a whole number of boxes: one overhanging by a millimetre does not travel. The floor count is

n = ⌊H/h⌋ · max( ⌊L/l⌋·⌊W/w⌋ , split(L, W, l, w) )

Internal dimensions are the ISO 668 nominal internals for 1CC, 1AA, 1AAA and 45ft high-cube boxes; the curtainsider row is a standard 13.6 m EU semi-trailer. The weight count is the container payload divided by your gross box weight. Payload varies by container build and by what the tractor unit weighs, so it is shown per row rather than hidden: under EU 96/53/EC a road combination is capped at 40 t gross, or 44 t carrying a 40ft or 45ft ISO container in intermodal transport.

A floor, not a promise. Full layers, one box size, two orientations per floor. Real loading can beat it by interlocking between layers or using the door recess — and falls short of it if the goods cannot be stacked to full height, are not self-supporting, or need dunnage. Check stacking strength and load securing (EN 12195-1) separately.
